Gender role and Society There are always discussions about equality and inequality in families homes and in the work place. The discussions usually end up in arguments between the men and women about who does what around the house and who contributes more within the family. In the Kelly article a man named Gary Braunswing a drill press operator stated that he know his wife works all day just like he does but its not the same. Gary says “it’s really not her job to be working it’s mine.” Gary feels that the man is supposed to support his family and it’s his responsibility and his wife Irene is responsible for working in the house and with the kids. His wife Irene works and shares the burden with him but Gary also does his share around the house. Gary states that although he doesn’t contribute as much around the house as his wife does he brings in more money then she does.
