Reaction Advertising at the Edge of the Apocalypse
After watching the video and reflecting on my own thoughts about the subject, I have come to the conclusion that advertising does have a negative connotation on society. The authors remark about advertising being “the most powerful and sustained system of propaganda in human history and its cumulative culture effects, unless quickly checked, will be responsible for destroying the world as we know it” seems contradictory to the anti-propaganda. By making this video, Sut Jhally, the author, has made his own propaganda against advertising. ... If we look further into the “happiness” category, we found that advertising now offers a real image of the happiness brought by these products.
