The movie Gladiator, is the recent movie made to portray the times of Ancient Rome. Not only was the content of the movie historically correct, full of accurate details that portrayed actual historical events and people, but it held in its plot much more than just accuracy and details. It was full of jealousy, loyalty, love, and , most significant, revenge. Throughout this entire movie, revenge is the driving force of the most important character. Maximus Dessimus Meridius, General of the Legion, loyal servant to Caesar Markus Aurelius, a father and husband. The love between Maximus and Markus was that of trust and loyalty. It was that of a father and son. A relationship that Markus and his actual son, Comodus, never developed. There was a mutual respect between Maximus and Markus, not only because Maximus was loyal to the Caesar, but because he was loyal to Rome, and loved them both.
