Given by
Dr. ... Army
Before I begin my formal remarks I would like to highlight two historic events on this Veteran’s Day 2003. ... I believe that on Veteran’s Day of 2007 we will have what we worked so hard for, an honorable final resting place for our own, for our veterans. ... What a historic day.
Today we celebrate Veteran’s Day. Congress, realizing that veterans of World War II and Korea equally preserved peace, made this day an occasion to honor those who have served America in all wars. I would like to provide some insights into who are Veterans by using one soldier’s story and two images about today’s soldiers. ... "
305 American soldiers died in the Ia Drang valley during this fierce four-day battle, as did thousands of North Vietnamese Army Regulars. ... "
In closing let us thank our veterans on this Veteran’s Day 2003 with these words, which I recently received from a local veteran. ...
It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech. ...
It is now my pleasure to present to you the winners of the Sarasota County Veterans Commission Veteran of the Year Awards.
The Sarasota County Veterans Commission, which represents over fifty veterans and patriotic organizations in Sarasota County has recognized a local veteran each year on Veteran’s Day for their outstanding service. This year the Veterans Commission made two changes to this annual recognition. ...
The second is to name the annual awards after a person who has over his entire lifetime served our veterans with tenacity, passion and commitment. ... McLain Woman Veteran of the Year award is Pat McLain, herself a patriot and great supporter of our veterans. ... They are William Chalone from American Veterans Post 1997 and Disabled American Veterans Post 101, and Ruth Pine from the Sarasota Navy Women, Unit 123.
