The movie, Lorenzo’s Oil, portrays a young child that has developed a very rare disease known as ALD. ... Many doctors had warned Lorenzo’s parents about side effects of using an oil, however they were willing to do anything to help there son and looked past the side effects and continued to perform risky experiments on their son. In this situation, drug companies would probably have been more cautious and aware of the side effects of using such an oil. ... The approval for such a drug would take up a considerable amount of time, due to the fact that the drug company needs to prove that such an oil actually benefits children with ALD.
