I had seen The Matrix four times before this class. The first time was in the movie theatre. I walked out of the theatre thinking that my eight dollars was well spent on the greatest special effects show, not understanding a bit about what the movie was about. The next two times, the movie played on one of my cable channels and I decided to try and figure out what I didn't understand the first time. By the fourth time, when my boyfriend rented it, I thought I had an excellent grasp on the plot. However, I found myself needing to watch it again in order to find the RELIGION in it. Well, the characters in the movie use words like "You're my savior. My own personal Jesus Christ" and refer to Neo as "The One." One of them, Tank, even calls Morpheus "our father." I didn't find many more religious aspects in The Matrix than what has already been stated by many of my classmates: that Neo represents Jesus Christ, the Messiah who has come to save the world.
