In an engineering context, the word "Design" refers to problem solving, i. ... Design is at the heart of mechanical, civil, electrical, chemical, and computer engineering. Much of what practicing engineers do is design, or is analysis done in support of design. Even engineers and scientists who perform research must often design apparatus in the course of their research. Design is simultaneously a creative, analytical, and cumulative process. In that sense when we refer to design we mean the creation of something new out of the raw materials given, transforming the novel idea of oneself to the physical existence.
The above paragraph would perhaps give the traditional notion of the design. But is this the only way in which we can define and understand design.
