War of Independence Essay – The Garf

“British actions did not cause the War of Independence; it was the nature of the American colonies that led to the Revolution.”
British actions triggered the War of Independence. The taxes and acts that the British Government imposed on the American colonies were what sparked the War of Independence. ... “Very few colonists wanted or even envisaged independence at this stage. ... ” This shows that now the War of Independence was truly near. ... Fighting between the American colonists and Britain began and America soon declared its independence from Britain on July 4, 1776.
The gradual dilapidation of British-American relations from the time the Sugar Act was introduced to the outbreak of war shows that it was British actions that triggered the War of Independence. However, they were not the sole causes of the war and a separation sooner or later was inevitable. “It is true that there was no plot, no conspiracy in America looking to independence; but there were forces at work for many years that must eventually dissolve the political bond between the two peoples. ... Thus, the differences between America and Britain were a source of the problems that led to the war.
