Secrets
When people hear the terms alcoholic or drug addict, what is the first thought that comes to their minds? For most people, the first thought that comes to mind is a helpless individual who cannot hold down a steady job, with little or no money, and do not enjoy a healthy family life. I highly disagree with this. I know three individuals who are productive members of society even though they are addicted to drugs and alcohol. I believe that drug abuse, including alcohol abuse, may be an issue even with people who seem to be functioning well. My first experience is with a man named Gary, who is wealthy business owner that has many hidden addictions. Gary wakes up on time every morning and works hard for eight to ten hours. When his long, stressful day is over, Gary goes home to fulfill his responsibility of a parent. Gary, while drinking several beers, makes something to eat for his son, Brandon. After Gary and Brandon are done eating, Gary takes his son to soccer practice. After soccer practice is over, Gary goes back home to help Brandon with his homework.
