Native son

While reading the novel, I noticed some racism being showed to some of the characters of the African American descent in the book. What played a major role in placing racism throughout the story was the year (1930’s) that everything took place. In the 1930’s there was still racism against colored people and it did not stop just for Bigger and his family. In this paper I would like to discuss the racism that was showed throughout the book. The novel gives off this persona about the heavy effect that racism had on the black population during this time just by the psychological state of mind that Bigger was in. Bigger’s psychological damage was developed from the constant barrier of racist things and racial oppression he faced while growing up. The movies that he sees represents white people as wealthy superstars or shall I say millionaires, and black people as bums.
