I think that “I, Rigoberta Menchu” has, perhaps, been misunderstood and misused by people on both sides of the left/right political divide. Therefore I don’t have any stand between left or right, which makes me more confuse since also I am very much in favor of David Stoll exposing Rigoberta Menchu of her lies, not that I believe that her lie would have effected anybody in term of harm or hurting someone’s feeling but because I think truth should be brought out and revealed.
"I, Rigoberta Menchu" is one of those books which seems to be overshadowed by controversy. A Quiche Mayan woman of Guatemala, Rigoberta Menchu told her story to anthropologist Elisabeth Burgos in Paris, France. ... In 1992, Rigoberta Menchu received the Nobel Peace Prize for her work as an activist for Indian rights in Guatemala as well as other parts of Latin America.
