What was the main purpose of Milgram’s Experiment? As we all know, obedience does serve a purpose in society and is necessary to have law and order. Milgram had absolutely no doubt that there are very dangerous levels of obedience. In his experiment, the individuals were lied to about the true purpose of the experiment. I believe that Milgram’s experiment was ethical, and it convinced me that normal human beings can be made into torturers.Stanley Milgram, a psychologist at Yale University, conducted a study focusing on the conflict between obedience to authority and personal conscience. He examined justifications for acts of genocide offered by those accused at the World War II, Nuremberg War Criminal trials.
