Enlightenment
Immanuel Kant “What is Enlightenment” Enlightenment is the capacity to use one’s intelligence without the guidance of another. Sapere Aude! Having the courage to use your own intelligence! is the motto of the enlightenment. It is because of laziness and cowardice that it is so easy for people to hide behind others. It is very easy to be a minor and lay back, allowing everything and everyone to make their decisions. All that is required for this enlightenment is freedom. One who favors freedom in the arts and sciences understands that there is no danger in legislation permitting his subjects to make public use of their own reason and to submit publicly their thoughts. Enlightenment is a self interpretation of a subject, especially religious. Denis Diderot “Prospectus for the Encyclopedia” Enlightenment was partly able to spread in society because of dictionaries.
