Often people are “shunned” because society doesn’t understand them and their actions. They try to exclude them from their society so their beliefs or actions don’t influence other people that are around them. ...
Even though Jones is now dead, society shuns him and those that are like him. Jones’s concept of revolutionary suicide was an indicator of problems within society as a whole. People found refuge in the Temple because they were within a world where they felt ill-equipped to understand. ... The effect that society had over the people can influence people to commit suicide in the name of their new faith as these followers did. ... But all the shunning that society does on people, is that a correlation of actions that is a direct effect of shunning itself?
