Affluenza
It has been said that all of us are members of a global family. After taking this course, it can be concluded that this is an accurate assessment of our world when using a family resource management perspective. The Affluenza video that was viewed in class explained how the United States is consuming way too much. This has both a positive and negative effect on the world as a whole. Our affluenza stimulates the world’s economy; however it also uses up valuable environmental resources. The United States is setting an example for the rest of the world. Other countries are now starting to believe that the more materialistic things one has, the better of he or she will be. This is affecting the way families all over the world now have to manage their family’s resources. Since what we consume affects the rest of the world, we are considered a global family. Each country is dependent on one another economically. The import and export business allows money and jobs to keep flowing from country to country. The more money and jobs there are, the easier it is for families to manage their resources.
