High Culture
It was once said that to have culture, you must ‘know the best that has been said, thought, and created in the world’. This is in a sense the conceptual essence of “High Culture”. The term “High Culture has now become a reference to those aspects of culture which are most highly valued by a society’s elite. People in the most affluent Political, Social, Economic, or Intellectual circles, are the one’s who decide what particular aspects of High Culture are the most esteemed. ... Not necessarily for the “enjoyment” of the show, but to be seen by other members of “High Society”.
