Discussion Question The English constitution was not written, it was built on precedent. William the Conquer owns everything all under his power, which slowly devoted over time. William was a monarch and set up a feudal system which included Dukes, Earls and Counts. Dukedom had Kings Brothers and sons, and Earldom had retainers. At that time Saxons and Normans didn’t get along. The sheriff was the king’s link to shire which had started the feudal system. In feudal system lord gives to those lower in sub - feudation for instance people below Duke, Earl, and Count were on contract to support them, and then they supported the King.
