Case Summary
Since Acer took the firm public in 1989, Acer become the seventh-largest PC manufacturer worldwide. In 1990, Acer organized along product lines and geographic lines. And this strategy made Acer decided and controlled by locally. To remain competitive and take advantage in fast cycle manufacturing industry, Acer acquired economies-of scale and coordinated each unitfs efforts.
Problem Statement
Acer Americafs Canadian operation had to decide whether keep the Canadian market or not. After NAFTA, Acer operation in Canada mainly served as a conduit for American customers with lower transport cost and shorten delivery time.
