Montag s Society Not so Far Away
In Ray Bradbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451, the main character, the protagonist, Guy Montag, is placed in a setting, which seems to take on a life of its own in that it is intensely different from today’s society; however, many of the ideas that occur in this futuristic city are quite applicable to themes and perceptions of America in 2004. Guy Montag is a fireman, who lives in a town where the job of a fireman to is burn things, especially books, which are strictly prohibited. People in his town are not allowed to even own books, let alone read them.
