Utopia

I was pretty excited to go to my homeland of Cambodia; I was at the young tender age of twenty-four. I should’ve been more excited than I was. This trip has been delayed for about eight years. That’s about how long my parents have been retired and moved back to Cambodia. My father who was a prominent Real Estate Agent decided he wanted to go into politics and help his country out from all the corruption. My father is now a government official fighting for a Democratic Government with his party, who is hated by the people in power. From all the stories of people getting kidnapped and killed for ransom I was quite nervous. I knew I needed to take a trip away from the life I lived here. I had been going downhill for about six years now. Unable to reach the next hurdle, I just kept falling and had to restart again. I had finally decided I must make a drastic change, so I can progress in life instead of running in place. My debits totaled to about sixty thousand dollars and I found myself filling bankruptcy, in addition I had to ask my parents to pay off my car and school debits. Those past years I had been working so hard but nothing had changed. There were no days that I couldn’t feel my heart race without worries or stress. I had been trying to live up to my standards, which were higher then societies. I had asked myself plenty of times “Why this society requires so much to be happy?” Doubts had run through my head all the time, I don’t remember the last time when there was nothing on my mind. I have been trying to live a glamorous life or as I would say “having champagne taste on a beer budget.” I had hope this trip will give me sometime to relax and get some things off my mind. That day had come and it was time for me to be flying to Cambodia. I wasn’t taking that trip alone but with my aunt and uncle who lived across the street from me. I was a little nervous as we drove to the airport. The whole time that we drove to the airport, I was always wondering to myself if I forgotten to bring any essentials on that trip. As we reached the airport I said good bye to my brother who took us the airport and then we started the wait to board the plane. It was about three am in the morning at the airport. Being so tired it was to my luck we had a two hour delay which meant two more hours of trying to stay awake. Finally the time had come to board the airplane. As I entered the plane my hands started to burn as if they were on fire. I felt the sweat through my jeans.
