Johntin Nguyen Religion 150 Paper #7 I believe that I consider my identity to be of Asian descent. I'm an Asian because most of the world uses this to classify people from the same continent or look the same. I classify myself as an Asian because that is who I think I am. Many other races are also identified as Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, etc. This is probably why I consider myself an Asian. It’s because other races classify themselves or define themselves by what they look like, or where they’re from. The rest of the world uses this sort of classification, so I think of myself as being an Asian. I identify myself with the group of Asian because I come from Asia, just like others that come from the same continent. I think we’ve been using that to classify ourselves since all my life. I also consider myself as a male and a basketball player, but most don’t know that I like to play basketball so using Asian would be easier, and they can probably already tell if I’m Asian just by looking at me, and others like me. I identify myself in this particular manner because people have been using it since I was born. I’ve heard other use this classification most of my life, so I think of it as being true. Majority of people, generally strangers, can probably tell that I am Asian, so that is the classification they use. Closer friends and such might think of me as a basketball player because they know me better.
