However, there is no concrete definition about the legality of abortion, the reason for that is because there is a big controversy with activists on the issue of pro-choice or pro-life. Pro-life activists call abortion “murder” of a live and developing fetus (unborn baby). An organization called National Organization for women also known as NOW supports access to safe and legal abortion, to effective birth control, to reproductive health and education. In 1967 it became the first national organization to call for the legalization of abortion and for the repeal of all anti-abortion rights for all women as described in http://www.now.org/general.html. Even though, abortion is legal under current United States law pro-choice activists fear that president George W. Bush, who opposes abortion, would try to overturn the supreme courts decision of abortion being legal. In the Supreme Court case of Roe V Wade in 1973, it secured the right to safe and legal abortion in the United States.
