Saint Camillus Life and Miracles
When thinking of a saint in the Christian religion many come to mind. ... When I was younger I could remember my grandmother talking about Saint Camillus, Patron Saint of the sick, hospitals, nurses and nursing associations, and how he helps sick people feel better and happier. So for the purpose of this paper I will be talking about Saint Camillus, his life, his miracles, and his impact on the Christian religion among other things. Saint Camillus was born Camillus de Lellis, 1550 at Bocchiavico, Abruzzi, kingdom of Naples, Italy. ... His mother died very young and Camillus followed in his father’s footsteps as a youth fighting as a soldier for both the Venetians (against the Turks) and also for Naples. Camillus grew to be a powerful man, reportedly growing as tall as 6’6” and being well built. He also suffered from absecesses on his feet for all of his life. Camillus always referred to himself as a great sinner but his only true vice seemed to be a powerful gambling addiction. ... When he returned to Rome he met Saint Philip Neri and became part of his order and became an administrator at San Giacomo hospital, where he was previously treated for war injuries.
