Eurdora
Writer’s often gain their knowledge and techniques of writing from reading. As Eudora Welty describes her love of reading her intensity in each sentence and descriptions demonstrate how reading impacted her to become a writer. Welty begins describing the librarian, “her dragon eye on the front door.” Welty is using hyperbole to show how this woman was not one to cross, and how many people saw her as a witch. Welty’s selection of detail show how many libraries appear, such as the large black lettered “silence” seen all over the library. Despite the librarian and her “commanding voice,” Welty would always venture into the library to read crisp pages upon pages of books.
