Introduction Copepods are considered the most important group of zooplankton in marine environments (1).There are well over 10,000 known species throughout the world and is the largest entomostracan species (3). They are found in many semi aquatic and aquatic environments, such as leaf packs, moist soil, wetlands, lakes, rivers and oceans (3). Mainly there are three distinct groups of copepods which are; Calanoida, Cyclopoida, and Harpacticoida (2). The body type of a copepod (figure 1.) consists of an anterior metasome (cephalothorax), which is divided into a head region with numerous appendages (2).
