Examsmanship and the Liberal Arts

Examsmanship and the Liberal Arts The story “Examsmanship and the Liberal Arts” by William G. Perry, Jr. takes place in 1967 at Harvard University. Mr. Perry is a counseling psychologist and does research to find out why students achieve their goals at Harvard while others do not. The story also tells about how students in Harvard write essays that are just and unjust. The main issue in this story is about students who write essays that are either bull or truly stated from facts. Mr. Metzger, a junior at Harvard was talking with his friend in the doorway of his friend’s class when the class was called to order. He was not enrolled in the class, but decided to sit down, proceed to take the essay exam, turn it in using a fake name and passed with an A. He did not know anything about the course, the book or the topics. Other students in the class received C’s on their paper.
