Each year companies spend millions of dollars on advertising their products. Almost all advertisements are designed to appeal to a certain group, and to cause a reaction or emotion. Companies that advertise their products are not stupid and are not wasting their money; they use various techniques that they know will push their product on to consumers. In order to figure out how the companies use ads to sell products, it is important to analyze its physical properties such as location (where the ad is printed, text, and the chosen photos or pictures. In fact, the entire ad must be read in order to know exactly what is being advertised. At first glance, it appears to be a column written by a writer that specializes in areas of sex, fitness, romance, and travel, but when analyzed closer the words “advertisement” can be found at the very top center. Perhaps, making the ad appear like advise given from an experience columnist makes the product seem more credible and not just another gimmick.
