Hazing
Hazing According to the FIPG (Fraternity Insurance Purchasing Group) hazing is defined as "Any action taken or situation created, intentionally, whether on or off fraternity premises, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. ... " Even though hazing is illegal in 43 states some still argue that it is one of the few ways to keep discipline and respect in organizations. Students, pledges, new members, often feel that they have to subject themselves to hazing to be apart of an organization or fraternity. ... Studies have shown that hazing can be harmful and sometimes deadly in many cases. One would think that from past experiences and cases of hazing that it would die down. ... Some might not know of the hazing activities that go in fraternities/sororities, high schools, athletic teams and in the military.
