Money Makes The Walter Go Round
Money is a dangerous thing. In the beginning of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin In The Sun, the character of Walter Lee Younger thinks that money is a blessing from God and that it should be spent however he wishes without thinking of consequences. Walter’s idea of money is a selfish one. Before the arrival of his mother’s inheritance check, Walter has a set idea in his head how that money is to be spent. ... Why shouldn’t Walter be able to make money off of that? But what he doesn’t realize is that the money is his mother’s, not his. ... This greatly upsets Walter because he had a plan for that money and Mama ruined his plan.
