Just some weeks ago, while switching channels on the TV, I came upon a small part of the movie “The Exorcist”. I changed the channel and I also got to see that most of the other channels were concentrated on violence. How far does the imagination of a person have to go to surprise, terrify or entertain the other people, for money, without thinking on the consequences that this might bring to the people’s mind? Good evening my name is Monica Cantu, and I am here to talk about the violence in the media. Years ago this writer Stephen King used to write scary novels that kept his readers terrified and entertain and later had his stories translated into movie pictures or mini series. From his humble beginnings, this writer has become a house hold name for horror or terror stories, and any movie that has one of its plots had ensured a quick and huge success. Why is people always interested in something that will make them sweat from fear and have difficulty sleeping? Well the answer is not an easy one, and I guess we can go as far back as the times when there was no formal writing.
