Is Hamlet really insane
The character of Hamlet is the prince of Denmark, the son of the assassinated King Hamlet and Queen Gertrude, and the nephew of Claudius. During the play, Hamlet experiences some very personal losses, in which he appears to act an insane manner. However, Hamlet believes in his sanity at all times, and he never doubts his control over his mind. There is a question, though, of what it really means to be insane. Is Hamlet really mad? If so, what causes Hamlet’s madness? ... I also believe that Hamlet is a man of high moral standards, in fact, his standards are higher than most of the people in Denmark at the time. Hamlet is bombarded by many difficult experiences at the beginning of the play, which his mind has to deal with. ... Hamlet says, “Ere yet the salt of most unrighteous tears had left the flushing in her galled eyes, she married. ... Hamlet is shocked by the description of the ghost and he says to himself “My father’s spirit-in arms? ... Hamlet’s personality undergoes severe stresses due to the tragic situations encounters and consequently, he has to find a way to solve the apparent problems. In Act I, Scene 5, Hamlet, while talking with his father’s ghost, is urged to avenge the foul murder, but to leave his mother out of it because her guilt is punishment enough.
