1 This is a poem I wrote about my friend Judith Judith You're such an inspiration for the ways That I'll never ever choose to be Oh so many ways for me to show you How the savior has abandoned you Fuck your God Your Lord and your Christ He did this Took all you had and Left you this way Still you pray, you never stray Never taste of the fruit You never thought to question why It's not like you killed someone It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side Praise the one who left you Broken down and paralyzed He did it all for you He did it all for you Oh so many many ways for me to show you How your dogma has abandoned you Pray to your Christ, to your god Never taste of the fruit Never stray, never break Never---choke on a lie Even though he's the one who did this to you You never thought to question why Not like you killed someone It's Not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side Talk to Jesus Christ As if he knows the reasons why He did it all for you Did it all for you He did it all for you.. 2 I just got out of a sneak preview for Kill Bill Vol. II (which opens on Friday) I thought it was a worthly sequel to the first movie. It was more than a sequel, though. It took the same story and told it from a different angle. There's more backstory, more emotional content, more explanation of why The Bride (Beatrix) & Bill did the things they did. Overall I liked it more than the first. But part of the reason I liked it more is because the 1st raised questions & the 2nd delivered. You can't really compare them separately. Guns are used more frequently as a device to further the plot. You can't really say there was much "gunplay" and I don't recall a single shootout, but guns definitely had a bigger role. Swordplay is still there, but isn't as key of an element. Tarantino threw in some subtle elements that I picked up on. Either that, or my imagination is running wild. At least 4 different times during the movie they subtly mentioned the titles of other movies, but not as a reference to that movie. The 2 references I remember (paraphrased): "Once upon a time in China there was a priest named Pai Mei..." (Once Upon a Time in China is a Jet Li movie) "You were the only one who ever buffaloed Bill." (Buffalo Bill is a Clint Eastwood movie) I noticed this subtle way that Tarinto threw in film names.
