grease is the word

“Grease Is the Word” Grease is a musical-based film that portrays teenage and High School life in the 1950’s. Grease debut in the month of July 1978 and was directed by the famous Randal Kleisser, who was also known for directing the Emmy award-winning motion picture “The Gathering”. ... Grease is rated PG and its estimated run time is about 110 minutes. ... The critics from 1978 had a negative outlook on Grease whereas the reviewers from 25 years later loved the movie. In my opinion, even in 2003, Grease is an outstanding film; many others consider it to be a classic. ... Grease paints an awesome portrait of teenage life in the 1950’s and its best accomplishment is the fact that it was not based on one specific genre. Grease is a Romance, a Comedy, and a Musical all in the same hour and fifty minutes. The reason I believe Grease is a classic is because the music made the movie. Grease’s music and soundtrack were great as a whole but some of the singles like “Summer Nights”, “Greased Lightning”, and ”Sandy” were Chart-topping hits on the Top 40. Grease was not a classic just because of the music; however, it was also its emotional impact on the audience, how it made people laugh, cry, and sob with joy. Grease has an outstanding plot that starts off with the fun summer break, it ends, and the students wind up back in school, which all teenagers dread hysterically. Grease starts off as Danny Zuko (John Travolta), leader of the T-Birds, meets Sandy (Olivia Newton-John), the goody good quiet type, during the summer and they have their romantic fling at the beach. ... Grease displays the typical idealized 50’s: high school dance-offs, drive in movies, eating at malt shops, and the traditional teenage like attitude, plus the comedy of pranks, frank comments, and insults towards one another. If you like a movie that has a simple plot (that you don’t have to become Sherlock Holmes to understand) that portrays romance, comedy, and music, Grease is your type of movie. Grease gets a stereotype from being musical in the sense that it is boring. This stereotype comes from musicals like Breakfast At Tiffany’s and Carrie, ergo people haven’t seen a good musical to compare Grease to. Grease is far from that, it has upbeat songs that make you want to dance and do the “hand jive” and also has soothing songs that make you melt into your seat. The fact the people bought the soundtrack and that the music gets audience participation makes the music in Grease astonishing.
