Since I was a girl, I have had a deep passion for learning. As I grew up, I remember reading was my only escape to my father’s abuse, and it was a book, Bruises, by Anke de Vries, that gave me the courage to speak out. Life has not woven an easy path for me, but if I have learned anything at all through the hardships I have survived, it is that knowledge is my key to gaining the understanding and abilities needed to help the world and accomplish my goals in excellency. I have no greater dream than continuing to pursue this quest for knowledge, and I must say that right now this scholarship is my only open door to this opportunity.
