Thirty Years Of Terror

Mike Gallagher Gallagher 1 Cultural Event Copeland 3/19/04 Thirty Three Years of Terror What is terror to you? Is it fear of dying , maybe heights, the monster under your bed or is it fear of being alone. Fear is the driving force behind any horror film and it is usually fear of a monster and who the monster is going to get, but the movie The Dawn of the Dead makes the monster the friends and family of the protagonist which provides an individual with sense of mistrust and speculation into the strength of the bonds of family. The remake of this horror classic provides a renewed experience which maintains the chaotic nature of the 1971 original and innovatively provides several new themes such as humor in despair and the sacrifice of the individual for the success of the group. Chaos is a dominant factor in the protagonist struggle as the infection of society increases and information becomes less accurate and available the survivors’ hope of rescue diminishes.
