Julius Caesar
Brutus is one of the most complex and interesting characters in the play. ... ” Brutus was the only one of the conspirators who murdered Caesar for the right reason and separated his own ambitions from the tragic deed. ... When Brutus commits suicide he proclaims, “Caesar, now be still; I killed not thee with half so good a will.” Basically, Brutus says it was harder for him to kill Caesar rather than himself, which shows his everlasting love and respect for Caesar. ... ” exclaims Antony when describing Brutus because Brutus was the only one who killed Caesar due to his moral values instead of ambitious gains. Brutus liked the system of relying heavily on the senate’s votes and dreaded the thought of one dictator ruling the land and this is where he presumed Caesar was headed with his enormous power.
