BIG GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Caleb Montroy Alpena Ties Marquette January 10, 2003, a night that most of Alpena will never forget. The stage was set, the two biggest rivals in Northern Michigan were about to face off for the historic last Friday night game in “the barn.” At that time, this was the most important game of the year to our whole team. In the “trailer”, as we called it, you could have cut the tension with a knife, everyone was trying to prepare themselves mentally for the war that lie ahead. Just as we were getting ready to take the ice, our assistant captain C.J. Mackenzie said what I think everyone needed to hear,” Don’t ask what your team can do for you, but what you can do for your team.” Then, we got word that the ice was finally ready, we entered the rink and you could almost feel the roar as the crowd erupted as soon as they spotted us. As we finally stepped on the ice for warm-ups, I could feel that we were ready for this game, despite all the talk that said we didn’t have a chance against the #2 team in the state. My expectations were met as our warm-up for this game went better than it ever had before.
