The greatest poet in the history of literature is Emily Dickinson. Emily Dickinson is one of my all time favorite poets. However, it takes a great deal of patience to analyze her poems. Dickinson uses iambic trimeter for this "328." The first syllable is unstressed, which is then followed by a stressed syllable. The length of the line is trimeter, which is where each of the lines in the sentences have three lengths of lines. An example of iambic trimeter is shown in the first stanza, “A Bird came down the Walk-/He did not know I saw-/He bit an Angleworm in halves/And ate the fellow, raw,” The first and third lines are the same in length, and the other two are different in lengths. Altogether, there are 3 lengths and every even numbered syllable is stressed which is why this is called an iambic trimeter.
