Since its creation in 1945, the United Nations has created successful organizations and has led successful peacekeeping missions. The United Nations set out its purpose 59 years ago; “to bring all nations of the world together to work for peace and development, based on the principles of justice, human dignity and the well-being of all people. ... The United Nations has created various organizations such as UNICEF, which drastically improve the living conditions of the world’s children, at the same time as setting and meeting goals, such as the Millennium Goals. ... The United Nations is making progress towards meeting the goals they set for themselves in 1945. Without the encouragement of the United Nations developed countries wouldn’t have the inclination to step in and offer the developing countries a helping hand. UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s fund works towards “overcoming the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. ... The United Nations peacekeeping missions are “based on the principle that an impartial presence by the United Nations on the ground can ease tensions and allow negotiated solutions in a conflict situation.
