The movie I chose to analyze was Radio (2003), which was written by Mike Rich and directed by Michael Tolin. It was about a Football coach, Harold Jones (Ed Harris), who befriended Radio (Cuba Gooding Jr. ... Their friendship extended over several decades, where Radio transformed from a shy, tormented student into an inspiration to his community. This movie provided a lot of examples of sociological principles that I have learned so far in class. The beginning of the movie demonstrated how James Robert Kennedy, nicknamed Radio, was perceived as in the community. ... ” The community was being prejudice towards Radio because he was mentally challenged. ... An example of discrimination towards Radio is when the football team tormented and bullied him because his behaviors were not known as “normal” in their society. Harold Jones, the football coach for the school, was the one who first befriended Radio. ... When Coach Jones first approached Radio after football practice, Radio was pushing his grocery cart up and down the street and would only mumble when Jones tried to speak to him.
