educational ideals
Bryan C. Coronel English 1A 11/26/03 Educational Ideals Education is very important to many people. In my family, education is vital because it is the one thing that can guarantee a secure job, stable income, and a sense of pride. However, some people have degrees but no jobs, some people have a job but an undergraduate is not enough to advance, and people are not guaranteed a job in their field once they get their Bachelor’s degree. One advantage of going to school and getting a degree is the guarantee of a secure job. Having a secure job means not having to worry about getting laid off. For example, my mom was a Registered Nurse in the Philippines. When she came to the United States, she got a job easily at Kaiser Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She will soon take a board exam to become a registered nurse. Because of her education and experience in the medical field, she has security in her job. In contrast, my high school friend, John, was employed at an electronics company in Sunnyvale, California back when we were in high school. He said that he is not going to college since it is not for him. By working in electronics, he was able to buy a brand new 2001 Honda Civic car complete with an eighteen inch wheels and chrome exhaust. Two years later, I saw him working at Mc Donald’s and I asked him what happened to his job. John told me that he was laid off from his work and lost his car because he could not make the monthly payments.
