The United States has done a lot to help the growth if democracy in Haiti The US should continue to support Haiti and its reform. Haiti has been through a coup, reform, and different political leaders. ... The coup was led by dissatisfied factions of the army and by many of Haiti’s economically wealthy. ... The United States Coast Guard rescued 41,342 Haitians from 1991 to 1992. ... From 1991 to 1994 the unconstitutional military regime governed Haiti. ... This allowed Haiti’s already weak economy to collapse and the country deteriorated from neglect. In August of 1994 the United States took the lead in forming a multinational force (MFN) to carry out UN mandates via military intervention. ... The transition was the first ever transition between two democratically elected presidents in all of Haiti’s history. ... It was his third time being the political leader of Haiti in a decade.
