Different Psychology Aspects of Violence in Todays Youth

Aggression and violence in children and adolescents has become a serious problem in recent years. While it has always existed in our society, it’s more noticeable and the violence is more appalling than ever before. Psychologists have their own theories of why this violence is happening depending on what type of perspective they consider to be the most important. The biological, behavioral, psychoanalytic, humanistic, and sociocultural perspectives all bring something different to this case and each considers certain aspects of child and adolescent aggression to be more important. ... Behaviorists may also look at the external factors, such as violence on TV or parents being aggressive in front of the children and adolescents, and try to stop that. ... To vent the desires found in the unconscious, the aggressive children and adolescents may use violence. ... With the violence, socioculturalists might suggest that the society of these children and adolescents encourage violent behavior. ... Society would need to be altered so that violence is not looked at in a passive way but rather a serious offense before it got out of hand. ... Also, modify the positive view and attention violence gets through TV and the media to something more deserving of the attention and has a more positive influence of everyone’s behavior. ... The biological, behavioral, psychoanalytic, humanistic, and sociocultural aspects are very significant and each has a different way of looking at this situation. No matter which perspective you agree with, this situation with the violence of children and adolescents will hopefully be lessened as psychologists figure out what is causing this behavior and how to fix it.
