PLOT SUMMARY Blanche Dubois has taken a leave from her job as a teacher, and the home she grew up at, Belle Reve in Laurel, Mississippi has been lost. Blanche is a very refined woman, and a beautiful one also. Since her life is in shambles, her sister Stella lets her stay with her in her tiny, run down apartment with her rude husband Stanley Kowalski. When Blanche arrives she tells Stella how the family home of Belle Reve was lost. Blanche blames it on Stella because she left her to watch over Belle Reve. Stanley doesn’t believe this, he thinks Blanche sold Belle Reve and used the money to buy things. He starts tearing through her belongings looking for a bill of sale. He rips through some letters given to Blanche from her husband who committed suicide years earlier. That night Stella and Blanche go to dinner and a movie. Stanley has a poker night with his buddies. When Stella and Blanche return, Blanche is introduced to one of Stanley’s friends, Mitch.
