Which relates to the logic similar to that of self-criticism by philosopher Immanuel Kant, mentioned in Clement Greenberg’s thesis: “I identify Modernism with the intensification, almost the exacerbation, of this self-critical tendency that began with philosopher Kant. ... Modernism has found that these limiting conditions can be pushed back indefinitely before a pictures stops being a pictures and turns into an arbitrary objects.
