On Thursday February 19th at about 1 pm I attended MANUFACTURING CULTURE: Representation and the Black Collectable, the recommended art gallery on Salisbury’s campus. ... This particular art exhibit included numerous pieces of art that demonstrated the negative portrayal of African American women and man during the pre-emancipation period, reconstruction and even up until the mid twentieth century. ... The object was an African American servant that stood about five inches tall and had a three-dimensional form, this shape therefore created positive space. ...
