Langston Hughes’, “I Too” explores the topic of the blacks struggle to be included, and treated equal in their own country, a country that based its principles the document stating that all men were created equal. ... In “I Too”, Hughes asserts the fact that his people (blacks) would someday be thought of as being just a part of American culture as whites, or anyone else for that matter. ... In the poems’ very first line, Hughes stresses that he too is included in America’s culture.
