King and Neruda’s Language The views on language from both Stephen King’s A Memoir of the Craft and Pablo Neruda’s “The Word” are both very evident in their writings. ... King and Neruda share the thought of language and importance of words when they both speak of words being as that of a refined thinking. Neruda is able to depict this in his poem when he writes, “ I drink to the word, raising a word or crystalline cup in it I drink the wine of language or unfathomable water. ... In the poem “The Word” Neruda is able to make a very fervent point in how powerful words can be and the way they can affect one’s way of thinking. Neruda is able to portray the power and influence that words have when he writes, “… still it came from dead fathers and from wandering races, from territories that had become stone …and united new land and water to sow their word once again. ... Which helps lead one to the point that yes words do have power and much influence over the readers of both Neruda and King’s work.
