An event that happened during my high school career that I feel has changed me and helped shape who I have become would have to be when I finally received my license and started to drive. Before I received my license I didn’t feel very independent because I had to rely on my parents or friends for a ride to work, and rely on a school bus to take me to school. So on some days my parents weren’t able to take me to work and I had to call out just because I didn’t have my own transportation to get to my destination myself. The same scenario is also used if I were to miss the bus; I would have no other choice but to stay home. Also if I wanted to spend time with my friends at places such as the mall, movie theater, party, etc., I had my parents pick me up and drop me off. So before I reached the age of 15 and 9 months, the age requirement needed to receive a learners permit, I studied very hard to make sure that when the time came for me to take the written or computerized test, I would pass on the first try and be on first step toward driving all by myself.
