Huckleberry Finn Is not a light hearted, "feel-good " story. ... After Huck and Tom Sawyer find a fortune in gold, she takes Huck in and tries to civilize him. She reads Huck the bible, and prays with him. Then directly after reading Huck the bible she " fetched the niggers in and had prayers. ... Through a series of events Huck Finn gets kidnapped by his Pap, escapes, fakes his own death, and meets up with a runaway slave named Jim. ... Huck and Jim start floating down the Mississippi River heading towards Cairo where they can follow it all the way up to the non-slavery states where Jim can be free. ... Jim and Huck see a wrecked ship in the middle of the river , and decide to go aboard to see if theres anything worth taking. While looking around , Huck sees some thieves that are going to leave one of the men on the ship to die when it breaks apart . Huck and Jim leave before the ship breaks apart . Huck , concerned with even the thieves well fair, row downstream to try and get someone to save the men on the ship . Huck is worried for even the murderers fate . ... Once Huck , being an excellent liar, convinces the man that the richest man in towns niece is on board , he cant get there fast enough. ... Money matters more that human life, but Huck represents everything that the community is not .
